« Les Amis du Vieux La Ciotat” society, that has been running the museum since 1941, works meticulously to preserve the memory of the old city center for the public.
The museum is made of 15 rooms and 1500 exhibition objects about local heritage concerning culture, religion, traditions, the city’s economy, and of course the former shipyards as well as the inventions of the “cinematograph” by the Lumière brothers and the Pétanque game.
The museum is a cultural trove and is also the guardian of our heritage. It is a must-see for every tourist.
